Servicing Your Gas Heater

Gas heating is perfect for keeping you warm while also keeping costs down and environmental impact to a minimum. Here are some important tips to make sure your gas heater is working efficiently and safely.

How often should I have my gas heater serviced?

It is recommended to have a regular gas heater service every two years. This way, you can be sure your gas heater is both safe and ecconomical.
Faulty gas heaters can cause house fires or release dangerous fumes into your home.
If you detect a leak call Blackwell Plumb & Gas immediately!

What’s involved in a gas heater service?

Our licenced gasfitters will carry out checks on:

  • Flue
  • Gas pressure
  • Burner
  • Thermostat
  • Heat exchanger
  • Carbon monoxide levels

We will also clean your heater for you.

What can I do myself?

There are a few things you can do yourself between regular services:

  • Vacuum the duct registers (central heating duct opening) to reduce odours
  • Carry out a visual inspection of your heater, checking for cracks and note any gas odours

If you are concerned about a possible leak you may purchase a gas leak detector and/or call us or send an online request to arrange an inspection.
